Our little Fireman

•July 27, 2013 • 3 Comments

I cannot believe that my nephew is 2 1/2 years old! Where does the time go?? What a blessing he has been and continues to be in my life. I did not know I could love such a little person as much as I do. Every time I get asked to do a shoot for him, I cut them off mid sentence to say “YES!!!”. Not only am I biased and think he is the most adorable kid, but he is such a joy to be around. He “loves big” and it is such a joy to see him get so excited about his toys, cars, his mom and dad and just being alive. It’s amazing how much he has taught me about really enjoying life.

When I was told that they wanted some fireman pictures of him, I had so many ideas come flooding in my head. The first, obviously, was to be able to shoot at an actual fire station, and thankfully the fireman in Snellville were very generous to let us shoot as much as we wanted. Although a little nervous, Cullen was enthralled with the big, red fire trucks, the station and all the color. Of course the cars whizzing by out on the road were just as exciting. πŸ™‚ I also knew I wanted water to be involved, not only to go along with the theme, but mainly because water is one of Cullen’s favorite things to play in. I was hoping I would be able to capture the sheer joy in his face. The lighting and beauty of the day could not have been any better. As the shoot was coming to a close, and Cullen was still containing that beautiful smile after a long shoot and squealing as he sprayed us all with the hose, tears filled my eyes. Those are the moments I am so blessed to be a photographer. ThoseΒ are the moments that are so valued, Those are the moments that are so simple and that could easily be overlooked if you are not watching closely, Those are the moments that I thank God for what I get to do, and for how He has blessed me.

I hope you enjoy the images below- it was an honor as always to get to do this shoot and to be apart of this sweet boy’s life.Β  Incredibly blessed!

Thanks to Jeremy for all your help in assisting with the shoot and for the kind fireman who made us feel at home! ImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageΒ

Kevin and Anna

IMG_0024Kevin and Anna

It has been far too long since I have been on the internet and my life and been far busier than I thought it could be. But somehow through the busy speed of life, it has been a time of rest, reflection and healing in my life. More on this……But for now, I could not let this time go past without sharing a wonderful engagement shoot I had the honor of being apart. I have know the bride for quite some time and was happily introduced to her husband to be. πŸ™‚ It was a joy to be apart of this special time in their life.

I absolutely love shooting outdoors; rays of warm sunlight, flowers and trees. The outdoors contain a raw but mysteriously beautiful life of it’s own. I was able to once again have this lovely engagement session at a dear friend’s home. What a blessing this location was to me-a photographer’s dream. I’m thankful for my friend’s generosity and hope to be back soon πŸ™‚

Anna and Kevin are a lovely couple, and this shoot was unlike many photo shoots I have done before. We took our time, it was relaxed and I absolutely love if I can merely be a bystander and capture true moments. When I can observe the love between a newly engaged couple, it is wonderful. It is not the poses, or the the tilt of the head, the attire, but the look in their eyes, the love that is found there. Pure joy. It makes me smile and I hope to find that same joy someday. But until then, it is a blessing when I, as a photographer, only become an observer, the couple forgets for moment that I am even there and I get to see…them.

Thank you Kevin and Anna, for letting me see you. Many blessings to you both on your future marriage and new journey of life together. As the one of the Carpenter’s song goes you’ve “only just begun…”.

What a blessing to get to shoot a maternity shoot and a few months later a Family shoot! πŸ™‚ You may recognize this couple, James and Kelli from a few months back. If not check out their photos here

As I was uploading all the photos from this shoot, I just realized that the shoes we used to sit on top of Kelli’s belly just months ago, are now on the feet of their sweet baby, Jarrett. How cool is life? Those cute shoes months later are even cuter now that they are filled with little tiny feet and wiggling toes. Jarrett is the sweetest baby and already brings so much joy to his parents and everyone around him.

We nearly froze the day of the shoot-the temperature dropped and the autumn wind blew almost through us! This led me to crank the heat in my car and desire a cup of hot chocolate. πŸ™‚ But we managed and lucked out with some lovely fall leaves around us. The cold however, ended up putting little Jarrett to sleep and to our surprise, he continued to sleep throughout the blaring whistle of a oncoming train on tracks right beside us. It was impressive!

Between laughs and chattering teeth, it was a lovely day.Β  And as I always say, I was completely honored to be apart of the Willard’s,Β  now Family.Β  Enjoy!!!ImageΒ  Image ImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImage

I did newborn pictures for the Mullis’s back in September….wait you say it’s almost November???!! What??!! πŸ™‚

At any rate, I’m here and I will say that this was actually my first newborn shoot. πŸ™‚ It was a wonderful experience and I learned a great deal. I was blessed to be apart of Henry and Heather’s life in this very special and exciting time. Charlie, their son, was perfect and brought smiles to our faces during the shoot. Doug, their adorable dog brought on some laughs and smiles as well!

I love shooting photos as natural and as raw as they can be. That is how we see places and people that we love everyday. I wanted this raw quality to come through in the shoot; the real, new and exciting love and growth that has taken place in this family. Doug had to be apart of all this as he was their first “baby”. The gentle love of a mother, the pride of a father, the licks of a furry face all come together to be the common but profound word, Family. πŸ™‚ I hope to experience this joy in a family of my own someday.

So without further adeu, I am pleased to introduce you to the beautiful Mullis Family!

-Oh be sure to check out the chest of drawers behind them, Henry made this beautiful piece of furniture for Charlie by hand!ImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImage

A new journey

•August 13, 2012 • 1 Comment

I had the privilege of shooting James and Kelli’s maternity pictures a few weeks back. Luckily we made it just in time as they had their sweet baby boy, Jarrett only days later!!

The whole vision behind this shoot, had to do with travel. James and Kelli have traveled many places around the world, that being one of their favorite things to do together, and have had many adventures. I wanted to incorporate that into the shoot, however, being first time parents this is a new journey, a new adventure in their life that they will be taking together. There may not be famous restaurants, historical sites to see, mountain ranges or rivers, but instead bright eyes and smiles, small resemblances of you or your spouse, baby powder, bedtime songs and stories, a world of plastic, brightly colored toys, walls, cards and computers filled to the brim with photos and videos, cheers and big rounds of applause for the first time crawling and then the tremblingly legs trying to stand and walk. Not an easy adventure whatsoever, but absolutely worth the ride.

Bless you James, Kelli and baby Jarrett in your new journey, may this be an adventure like none other!
Thanks to Kerry for an excellent job assisting me.Β  Thanks also to Jerry with Georgia Trolley Services in Lawrenceville for allowing me to take some fun images on their beautiful trolley! Check them out if you want to work with great people and ride on a lovely trolley. πŸ™‚

I had the honor of shooting Chad and Michelle’s engagement pictures earlier this summer. They are a fun, laid back couple and such a joy to work with! They are both talented worship leaders, they love anything vintage including collecting antiques, and Michelle is obsessed with Starbucks. πŸ™‚ Can you blame her?Β  She is slowly converting Chad to this obsession as well. πŸ™‚

I cannot wait to see what the Lord has in store for this lovely couple in the future. Congrats Chad and Michelle-may God blessΒ  you and your marriage!!

Thanks to Lee for his amazing skills assisting me!

I shared a few images a couple weeks back from a shoot of my nephew. But I have been incredibly excited to share more from the shoot! What a joy he has been to me and my whole family but especially to my sister and brother-in-law. I cannot believe how much he has grown up in this first year of his life and he continues to grab more of my heart every single day.

My favorite kind of photography is raw, realistic and everyday. I absolutely LOVE to capture moments that would happen whether I was shooting or not. I love experiencing the true moments, the real love and shooting the insignificant details that make up the people we love. This is what rips my heart out, This is what brings tears to my eyes and This is what I strive to continue to do and convey to others with my photography. I hope you get a sense of this in this shoot and see the pure love that is there between a father, a mother and their son.

Thank you for taking the time to stop by- and don’t forget the details of your own life. Breath them in with your eyes and never forget to tell others what they mean to you. Happy Monday!

New life

•May 1, 2012 • 2 Comments

You may remember me saying I would have these images up a week ago, however it is crazy how much can happen in a weeks time. My grandmother was taken to the hospital last week, long story short, she ended up having surgery and is thankfully doing fine. Then I was supposed to go to Raleigh last weekend with my family to see my Aunt and Uncle and we got the flu. Whew!!! It’s been a crazy time and needless to say the pictures were not able to get up until, today…obviously. πŸ™‚

With that all being said I want to introduce you to the lovely couple, Zack and Audrey, also dear friends of mine. I was honored and blessed to get to capture this special moment in both of their lives. I wanted the images to be full of warmth, to show the love between the two of them, but to also have bright and saturated colors of spring to represent new life; the new life to come of their little girl and their new life ahead for them as a family. I hope that comes across in the images. We also just had a wonderful time and shared many laughs!

Also a shout out to my wonderful assistant, Jeremy- could not have done it without you-Thanks so much!

I hope you enjoy the enjoy the images as much as I did getting to shoot them and a big Congratulations goes out to Audrey and Zack for having a beautiful baby girl last week! Welcome Tensley!!!
