Dave and Stacy

Finally getting some images up from a maternity shoot I did at Tribble Mill Park a few months back for Dave and Stacy. I can’t even begin to tell you how honored and thrilled I was to do this shoot. When you are a photographer, from the day you sign the contract you are constantly thinking of new things, getting the creative juices flowing, researching and trying to play out what feel or style you want this shoot. Or at least this is what I like to do, I think it helps me to prepare. I like to know more about my clients, so that I can incorporate that in to the shoot.

This was my first maternity shoot to be honest, so I was excited but nervous. Not having children of my own yet, I was worried that I would not be able to follow through with the images, not having any real knowledge of what they were going through. I tried my best, and talked to my mom and others about what you are feeling/ going through during your pregnancy . I asked my mom what one word she would use to describe the experience… I’m trying to remember off hand, but i believe the word she said was tremendous “love”.  I wanted to show that through the images.

The word that kept coming to my mind, other than love, was the word warmth. Even though the shoot was done on a cold, early morning in November, I wanted the love between the two of them and their new found love for the baby to shine through the images-creating a stark contrast between them and their environment.

Between the gorgeous day we had before us, the beautiful couple and their sheer joy that came through, it was amazing. They were wonderful to work with and I couldn’t have been happier.

I do have to hand out a little credit though to the random passerby with his dog. We were shooting down near the lake, getting some lovely shots of the fog. He randomly walked up and just said, “you need to wait a few minutes, cause the sun will rise shortly here and it’s beautiful. You need to check it out. Especially if you go over there, the sun shines real nice…”etc.  Sweet of him to offer advice, but I do find it odd and sometimes irritating when you have a shoot and a random person tries to direct you and tell you what to do. Wrong attitude? Probably- and in this case, definitely. I listened to him, but in my head, was like…”yeah ok bud..thanks for the tip. now go back to walking your dog and leave me to it.” We all laughed it off. Well, what do you know that a few minutes later the sun peaked up from the tree line..bright and as “warm” as it could be!  Amazing!  The fog now popped and the whole scene went from beautiful to breathtaking. I call him my little angel guy. I had no idea where he came from or where he went after, but I am very grateful for the little treasure he shared with us…thank you whoever you are!

Long story, but what a beautiful day and wonderful experience! Thank you Dave and Stac for letting me be apart of this special time in your lives! Enjoy!
